I received this very interesting email recently.
From: Real.Person [Real.Person@s5ame.com]

Subject: BOENI
TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
I KNOW MR. BOENI. I HAVE DONE BUSINESS WITH HIM. WE HAVE RUN CHECKS ON HIM IN
SWITZERLAND AND ASIA.
BOTTOM LINE IS THAT, WHILE HE IS NOT PERFECT (NONE OF US IS!), HE HAS COMMITTED
NO CRIMES AND WAS ALWAYS FOUND TO BE HONEST.
AS FOR HIS LIBERIAN DIPLOMATIC PASSPORT, IT WAS DECLARED VALID BY THE AMBASSADOR
IN GENEVA THREE MONTHS AGO. WE WERE INFORMED THAT A NEW ONE HAD BEEN ORDERED IN
LIGHT OF THE CHANGE IN GOVERNMENT.
PETER HAS A BANKING BACKGROUND. THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE TRYING TO FIND
AND RECOVER ALLEGED LOST FUNDS IN EUROPE AND ASIA BELONGING TO THE U.S. GOVT.
IF HE IS TRYING TO FIND THEM, IT IS NO CRIME. SOME GOVERNMENTS, IN FACT, HAVE
THEM THOUGH CLEARLY BELONGING TO THE U.S. GOVT.
SEEMS LIKE YOU ARE TRYING TO MAKE THIS MAN OUT AS A BAD GUY FOR REASONS THAT ARE
NOT

The IP address of 213.82.17.162 is listed in the whois as belonging to a company in Milano, Italy.
Being the curious type as well as suspicious and cautious of any emails, I wrote back. In my response I indicated that I did not know who the writer was but I informed her why I feel the information in the above email is inaccurate. I soon received the following response.

Mr. Greshko
I am very sorry but I do not know who you are either. I have checked my e-mail
in my hotel in Milan and obviously someone had written this e-mail to you and it
never went out and when I accessed my e-mail it went out under my name, I have
no knowledge of the person you are inquiring about and do not want to know.
Please try and find the original sender and leave me out of the loop. Thank
you.
I believe that someone sent the first email of July 17th without the knowledge or consent of "Real Person". It is likely that "Real Person" does not know who sent the email in her name. Looking at other clues, I'm guessing that her account information was retained on a computer in a hotel's business center and used without her knowledge or permission.
I believe that "Real Person" is the actual author of the email of July 18th.
I did some additional checking in the identity of "Real Person" and her
information checked out. There is a person with her name working for Saks 5th Avenue in the Middle East and on a business trip to Italy.
It is amazing what some people will do in an attempt to "prove" their integrity.
